Structural engineering made clear. Not buried in reports.

CLEA replaces the boring 200-page reports, endless photo logs and revisions, and massive email attachments with a single live dashboard. Calculations, drawings, RFIs and progress — visible to your whole project team, in real time, the moment they change.

Say it
CLEA · /ˈkliː·ə/ — like "clear" without the r.
Two syllables: CLEE·uh.

01 / 06 · Our philosophy

Our philosophy in four words.

Principle 01
C

Clear.

One answer per question. Source data, assumptions and limit-state checks are one click — never a hunt.

Principle 02
L

Logical.

Calculations and reports should be easily understood with in-line visible cues — load paths, not file paths.

Principle 03
E

Efficient.

Updates should take a proportionate amount of time to update. Don't wait for a whole report to be updated — small change, small wait.

Principle 04
A

Accessible.

We recognise neurodiversity and want to give flexibility in how your project data is presented — your project presented your way

02 / 06 · What we do

Multiple services. One way of working.

01

Structural Engineering Design

From scheme to site. New-build frames, alterations and extensions,  cantilevers, connections — designed to the relevant Eurocode suite and delivered as a live, traceable dashboard rather than a 200-page PDF. Every member sized, every check inline, every revision dated.

  • Eurocodes · SCI · BRE · NHBC · Concrete Society · IStructE
  • Steel · concrete · timber · masonry
  • Live calc → drawing pipeline
  • RIBA Stages 2–5
02

Building Condition Surveys

Pre-purchase, pre-works and ongoing monitoring surveys for residential, commercial and heritage stock. We document defects, identify causes, and prioritise remediation — with photographs, sketches and recommendations cross-linked to the structure they describe, not buried in an appendix.

  • Visual & intrusive inspections
  • Crack mapping & movement monitoring
  • Heritage & listed buildings
  • Insurance & subsidence claims
03

Roof Assessments for PV

Structural sign-off for solar PV installs on existing roofs — domestic to large commercial. We check the existing structure against the additional dead, wind and snow loads, identify reinforcement where needed, and issue an MCS-compatible structural report your installer can hand to building control on day one.

  • Pitched & flat roofs
  • Truss, purlin & rafter checks
  • Wind uplift to EN 1991-1-4
  • MCS-compatible reporting
04

Landscaping Structures

Retaining walls, garden offices, pergolas, raised decks, stepped terraces and water features. We work directly with landscape architects and contractors to design lean, buildable structures — often the difference between an approved planning submission and a redesign.

  • Retaining walls & embankments
  • Garden rooms & outbuildings
  • Decking, pergolas & timber frames
  • Garden walls, fences, and boundaries
05

Feasibility Reports

Early-stage structural feasibility for clients, developers and architects deciding whether a scheme is buildable, costable, and worth pursuing. We undertake a site due diligence,  test load paths, identify high-risk elements, sketch outline options, and give you a defensible structural narrative to take into planning, finance, or RIBA Stage 2.

  • New build structures or alterations
  • Wall removals & opening-ups
  • Change-of-use viability
  • Outline cost & risk register
06

Environment

We undertake embodied carbon calculations with every project. We have the ability to do this at each stage of your project, highlighting the progress towards a more sustainable project as the project develops. We can also design specifically for low carbon options.

  • Embodied Carbon Calculations
  • Green Buildings
  • Innovative Materials
03 / 06 · How we do

Everything has a chain of custody.

Open any number on a CLEA dashboard and you see who set it, when, against which standard, and what changed downstream. No more "where did 412 t come from?" emails at 11 pm.

04 / 06 · Clear Education

Engineering, explained. Free.

A growing library of short, plain-spoken lessons on how structures actually work — from first-principles statics to why your loft conversion needs a steel. Built by the engineers who designed it, for everyone who has to live with it.

Bring us your project. We'll show you what clear looks like.

A 30-minute walkthrough on a real project of yours. No slides. No NDA gymnastics. We rebuild one of your sub-frames live in the dashboard and you keep the link.
